“The Path to 9/11”
It appears that ABC is finding itself in quite a pickle this morning over their docudrama “The Path to 9/11”. I was actually looking forward to this miniseries, which surprisingly is being presented by the entertainment branch of mainstream media behemoth ABC, a subsidiary of Walt Disney.
Apparently, this docudrama has rattled the nerves of Bill “please define is” Clinton and has sabers rattling throughout the Democratic Party in the wee days before a rather important election. “The Path to 9/11” was apparently well researched, and relied on several 9/11 Report Commission members to accurately bring accountability to all parties who dropped the ball, or in some cases their pants, leading up to the worst terrorist attack in the history of our nation.
The Clinton administration is apparently portrayed in a negative light, viewing terrorism as a “law enforcement issue”. In the version that the Clintonistas are finding objectionable there are references to the 1993 World Trade Center attack and presentation of the facts that Clinton never even visited that site, let alone console the families of victims. Guess lighting up that cigar with the young intern took precedent.
There is apparently another scene in which National Security Advisor Sandy Berger refuses to give the thumbs up to taking out Osama Bin Laden. Yes, this is the same Sandy Berger who was caught red handed stealing documents from the National Archives. Now we should all be wondering what really disappeared and why the Clinton camp is desperately trying to stamp out ABC’s right to free speech. If you don’t believe me, just read an excerpt from the letter sent by the Clinton camp to Robert Iger, the President of the Walt Disney Company:
"The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airways in serving the public interest. Nowhere is this public interest obligation more apparent than in the duty of broadcasters to serve the civic needs of a democracy by promoting an open and accurate discussion of political ideas and events."
This is nothing more than a veiled threat that basically says when Hillary is President and the Democrats control the House and Senate, your license will not be renewed if you air anything that we don’t agree with. Gee, I wasn’t aware that our media was subject to the same censorship that occurs in despotic nations such as Cuba, China or North Korea.
What this miniseries tells me is that many in the Democratic Party understand that their inaction in large part led to 9/11. After all, we did have a President who was more focused on beating charges in his impeachment hearings than protecting our nation. We have an ex-first lady who suddenly becomes more vulnerable when her aspirations for heading back to the White House may suddenly be nixed due to the truth coming out. We also have a large viewing audience who will suddenly come to understand just how weak on national security Democrats really are. No wonder they are infuriated!
I am sure that ABC points their fingers at the Bush Administration, as well. After all, it was on his watch when this disaster occurred. However, it was on Clinton’s watch when 19 terrorists plotted this attack. It was on Clinton’s watch when Osama Bin Laden could have been killed on multiple occasions. It was also on Slick Willie’s watch when the World Trade Center, U.S.S Cole, American Embassies abroad and the Khobar Towers were attacked. We had eight years of a do nothing president who could have done something. We then had eight months of a new President who may have been somewhat in the dark about these attacks, but responded like a true American hero and has done everything in his power to stamp out terrorists and correct the wrongs of the Clinton administration.
While ABC may succumb to political pressure, brow beating and veiled threats of Clinton and other Democrats, they would be well served to tell us the truth. After all, the Communications Act of 1934 does indicate that broadcasters have the duty to “promote an open and accurate discussion of political ideas and events.” Let’s hear the truth for a change and then let Americans decide this November who is better suited to protect our national security.
For anyone interested in joining the fight to stop censorship on the part of Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party, go to the following link and send an email to Robert Iger demanding that the unedited version of “The Path to 9/11” be shown in its entirety. http://abc.go.com/site/contactus.html
